Full Time Pastor for English Ministry
About the Church:
- KUMC of Koinonia at Centreville, VA is searching for a full-time pastor for English ministry. KUMC of Koinonia is a mid size congregation with a vision of vibrant missional church. The church shares the facility of Centreville United Methodist Church. The ultimate goal of both congregations is to become a partner in mission for God’s Kingdom. The relationship between two congregations has been considered as a model for other churches which share the facility with other congregation.
- KUMC of Koinonia is a chartered church of the Virginia Annual Conference. It started as a second campus of Korean UMC of Greater Washington, McLean, VA in 2007 and has become an independent congregation since 2016.
- Before the pandemic the average worship attendance of Korean speaking congregation was 170 to 200. In English ministry we have about 15 children, about 45 youth and 30 college/young adults and 4 English speaking families. We have two full-time pastors at KM and a part-time children director. We are pursuing a healthy and friendly working culture at the church.
- The support from Korean congregation for English congregation has been strong. PTA, Youth ministry team and English service leaders are very much active in ministry under the pastor’s leadership.
Position Description:
- Work with other pastoral staff to form one body and to accomplish the mission of the church
- Plan and lead weekly English worship service with lay worship leaders
- Provide regular programming for the youth(6-12th graders) and the young adults
- Train and support teachers and leaders for a team work
- Provide growth opportunities through small groups, retreats and mission trips
- Provide pastoral care for the youth and the college students with lay leaders
- Work with children director to form strong bond between the children and the youth
Qualifications:
- Sound theological education
- Personal conviction and experience about the Gospel
- Balanced stance on doctrinal and social issues
- Passion for people and mission
- Teachability and humility
Compensation:
- Salary: Staring base is $38,000 but the church will adjust according to the experience and the need
